There is an citizens initiative for achieving a ban on all LGBTQ+ targeted conversion therapy practices across all member states of the European Union. However for this initiative to progress, there is a requirement for **1 million** signatures in order for the commission bring it before the EU parliament for debate. The collection period for signatures ends 17 May 2025.

To support a European Citizen's Initiative, you need to meet the following criteria:
- You need to be an EU national
- You must be old enough to vote in European Parliament elections (18 in most countries but some lowered the age to 16 for ECIs as shown in the following: citizens-initiative.europa.eu/

@Pheebe Why is there a citizens initiative if the EU already has issued such ban ?

@Germo there is no legislation banning conversion therapy.

Not every state has yet enacted it, which I read as the point that the initiative is pushing on.

My country of nationality only enacted the ban last year. Others still have not, such as Hungary, Poland and checks notes the Netherlands.

The EU has done it's bit, it is the countries that have to implement the legislation.
It makes more sense to petition for that in every individual country
