@vitaminsludge@mastodon.ie Yesterday in Q there was a moment with RUS HAM and ALB in the top three. went on to joke ‘stop the clocks’. They still don’t understand that there has to be some impartiality and journalistic standards.

@IngenieurStefan @vitaminsludge

I think the problem is that the Sky team still have it in their heads that they're just the British coverage. 10, 20 or more years ago when the BBC coverage was almost exclusively watched by Brits, then a bit of British bias was fine - much national sports coverage is the same.

Nowadays the Sky feed is watched globally and they should, but don't, act differently.

The F1TV coverage is far better... totally worth the subscription.

@bazpoint @vitaminsludge@mastodon.ie I have F1 TV. I’ve used to watch the BBC and Murray, and they never seemed biased at all. Yes, they were pro Hill (I’ve got to stop because I have a lump in my throat ❤️) but they always showed all views and opinions.
I think it’s more cultural and rooted: The UK seems really involved with itself if that makes sense..

@IngenieurStefan

Eh, maybe... I don't think it's an exclusively British thing... I very much doubt the Italian or Dutch or Spanish coverage is a paradigm of objectivity & neutrality... it's just not so widely spread across global social media.

A bigger factor might be the more proactive FIA in recent years. Murray & co didn't have a chance to chime in on a dozen controversial stewards decisions every race, because there weren't any.

Also Sky = Murdoch media & Murdoch media = shit stirring.

@bazpoint within it seems exclusively British. German and Dutch commentators have higher journalistic standards it seems. There is more English news outlets and perhaps that’s a cause. On the other hand, tabloids and Brexit are clear indications that things are different in England.
