Does anyone following me know of a way to rip DVD subtitles with position information? From some quick searching, most tools do not have this information.
@ryanc I don't know much about such tools, but if you're stuck, depending on language, audio quality, number of speakers, etc. it may be a real option to auto-generate new subtitles using whisper.cpp (free!). That produces timestamped subtitle files and has generally excellent quality.
@alzimon OCR would be more reliable, as the subtitle images alone can be extracted separately, and also I very specifically want position data.
@alzimon speech recognition also won't make comments about music, background noise, sound effects, or disambiguate who was speaking
