USian here. I’ve started going to demonstrations again.
For years, I was disillusioned by all the demos we attended against the Iraq war, which the US nonetheless launched.
Friends keep reminding me that demos don’t work. I keep reminding them that I’m exercising an atrophied muscle, I’m meeting like-minded people, we are strategizing as we socialize at the demo, and our muscles will get stronger as we use them. Join us.
@ELS #demonstrations do actually work. But it’s indirect result. People are writing about it, people are reading it, opinions are be made. Etc. In the long run changes can get be realised. Most people think that policymakers must turn there views directly. That’s not how #demos work. Keep up the good work
