What an absurd world we live in where a company that actively harms society by its very existence accumulates wealth at a stupendous rate.

@Deiru @bob @rik It just riles me up when I hear people utter some variant of “if you don’t like it, don’t use it” which is akin to the beloved fascist statement “love it or leave it”. No, we will and we do criticise, we will and we do resist and oppose, and we will and we do build alternatives and throughout all this, we will and we do keep using digital/networked technology and infrastructures instead of disconnecting & keeping quiet.

@aral I knew being tracked by your city’s “free” WiFi or “smart” advertising billboards with integrated camera’s is in full effect. However upon leaving this public area where a food truck festival was held, my eye fell on this sign. Is this even allowed in public space? How to guard oneself to this?

Civil disobedience is the way forward on this one. We redouble our efforts to create decentralised alternatives and if they’re deemed illegal by this myopic legislation, so be it. Fuck ’em. We go to jail if we need to.

If you had any illusions that the battle for personhood and human rights would be easier in our age, think again.

#Mozilla begrudgingly implements tracking protection by default, after being shamed into it yet again by Safari, the DuckDuckGo browser, and Gnome Web (just the ones I know who implemented it first) and talks a good talk while still having Google as its default search engine and continuing to get hundreds of millions from Google/Alphabet, Inc. – the largest surveillance capitalist in the world. (Mozilla Corp is ~entirely funded by surveillance capitalism.)
