Yes, there was a lot of criticism from the community. So they had to write another blog, a few day later on, with some details on the financials.
I wonder if this helps. To me, as Couchsurfer host, I hope they will be more transparent in the future.

I know a lot of people who invested a lot of time and energy into cs, and its not as if they can migrate their profiles and networks seemlessly to another service. No, sadly there's going to be a lot of lost connections :(

I hope cs will be more transparent in future, but they can't throw off the profit pressure until they're community owned (again), and I have no idea how long that would take.
