As Democrats scour for new leadership, AOC emerges as Bernie 2.0 – Deseret News

“If you look at her favorability among Democrats, she’s very popular across the board,” Brad Bannon, a Democratic strategist, told the Deseret News. “It’s not just young people; it’s just not progressives.”

On top of all that, she’s filling stadiums for rallies nationwide — even in red states.

“This movement isn’t about partisan labels or purity tests,” Ocasio-Cortez told the crowd at the Huntsman Center. “But it is about class solidarity.”

The pair are closely aligned on several policy issues that have become central to the progressive base. But they aren’t as popular among Democrats at large, which could threaten Ocasio-Cortez’s reach to more moderate corners of the party.

For example, Ocasio-Cortez has long championed policies such as the Green New Deal, Medicare for All, student debt cancellation, and universal child care — proposals that have raised some eyebrows as being too expensive and politically risky.

Those same policy stances are what caused Sanders’ failure to garner more support for his 2016 and 2020 presidential bids as they posed electability concerns. These policy positions could raise similar obstacles for Ocasio-Cortez.

🐮💩⤴️

“I think it’s obvious that their visits are not about flipping seats. I mean they’re touring off of an election year,” Erika Cunningham, 26, who attended the Salt Lake City rally in her hometown, told the Deseret News. “Their goals are to shift the political landscape over time while also meeting people where they’re at across the entire country, not just in ‘safe’ blue areas. They represent a model of politics rooted in conviction to the greater cause versus convenience.”

What is the point of trying to establish the legal precedent for deporting American citizens? Without trial and for accusations of small crimes?

To create a pearly white, Christian supremacist, Ethno-State. One where women are virtually property, brownish people are imported slave labor, and gay people and the nuerodivergent are eliminated with eugenics. Israel is the blue print and Trump is the means. And if that requires making an income or property requirement to vote, they will do it.

What do they want to eliminate?

- People who know that Europe exists and there are other ways to run and regulate an economy.

- People who know that religion is a choice not something you are born into.

- People who have empathy for the poor and disabled instead of the troubles and burdens of the rich.

- People who believe that there are economic, environmental, and coercion crimes.

- People who believe history is worth studying for the mistakes that have been made.

- Diversity of thought.

What do they believe in?

- A Christian Nationalist state is worth any atrocities to establish. God will forgive all sins committed in his name.

- They are the chosen people and must purge all non-chosen people from this land.

- Since they are the chosen people anything they do wrong will be forgiven.

- Rich people are especially blessed by god and should be in charge, should be deferred to, should not be subject to the law, which is reserved to correct the transgressions of the poor.

Excellent thread.

I believe everything you say is correct except for them believing in a god other than themselves.

I know they, the evil fucks running this country, have been talking about putting US citizens in CECOT. I wouldn't be surprised at all if there have already been US citizens "accidentally" sent there. But I have not heard of a test case yet. Have they already done this?

in reply to Urban Hermit

I wouldn't be surprised if a US version of the Great Firewall is eventually put up, so that the government can control the flow of information with an iron fist. :/

they are not Christians. They are white racists, clear cut, without any resemblance of having shred of belief in teachings of Jesus Christ.
USA is only country in the world who have allowed this to fester unchallenged. You did not finish job after civil war. Thus results.

I was wondering why things are so noisy in the 460-470 MHz band. :P

The 460-470 MHz band is allocated to the non-Federal fixed and land mobile radio services on primary basis and to the Federal meteorological-satellite (space-to-earth) service on a secondary basis. The Federal agencies use this band (subject to mutual agreement and coordination with non-Federal users) for land mobile radio communication systems that are shared with State and local public safety partnering agencies for mutual aid responses, such as fire fighting, disaster preparedness, and law enforcement operations. On a secondary basis, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) operates the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites (GOES) downlink in this band. Medical radiocommunications and telemetry equipment also operates in this band.

Luigi Mangione wants state murder case dropped, arguing double jeopardy

They called the dual state and federal cases, plus a third in Pennsylvania involving gun possession and other charges, “unprecedented prosecutorial one-upmanship.” They said prosecutors ”are trying to get two bites at the apple to convict Mr. Mangione" of murder.

“Yet, despite the gravest of consequences for Mr. Mangione, law enforcement has methodically and purposefully trampled his constitutional rights,” his lawyers wrote. They allege officers questioned him without telling him he had a right to remain silent and searched his property without a warrant.

Grocery giant warns its suppliers that supermarket won't be accepting tariff-related price hikes

"Suppliers are not permitted to include tariff-related costs in invoices without prior authorization by Albertsons Companies," Alberstons continued. "Any invoices that include such charges without prior authorization will be subject to dispute and may result in payment delays."

It remains unclear how the company’s suppliers have reacted to the new policy or how they plan to absorb the additional costs.

Trump Mistakes Photoshopped Image of Immigrant's Knuckle Tattoos for the Real Thing in Intense ABC News Interview

The president accused ABC News correspondent Terry Moran of "not being very nice" during a heated exchange about whether a wrongfully deported Maryland father tattooed "MS-13" on his knuckles

During the interview with Moran, Trump suggested that the characters "M," "S," "1," and "3" were part of Abrego Garcia's real tattoo, and not typed onto the image after the fact to explain the alleged gang reference.

Chinese automaker stuns industry with new electric car breakthrough: 'Elevating the game to another dimension'

BYD Co., a Chinese carmaker, unveiled a groundbreaking fleet of electric vehicles. The EVs could change the game in the industry, as they can be recharged in the same amount of time as it takes to refill gas-powered vehicles.

The company began selling these EVs this month, and they are "capable of providing around 400 kilometers (249 miles) of range in five minutes in tests on its new Han L sedan," as Bloomberg explained.
