Some more #KodakHawkeye shots from SF, walking back from Glass Key to my office on Market St.

So, until the photos for the #FolderWeek are not even taken, I look for something in the archive

The next roll was shot on a #KodakHawkeye. These are both on Sutter St, SF, right outside of Glass Key Photo.

Last of the #SanDiego trip pictures. This is the Giant Dipper at Belmont Park. It's a near-twin of Santa Cruz's Giant Dipper.
A few years ago I took some pictures the Dipper at the SC Boardwalk and the white framing was not very well distinguished from the sky behind it, and that's when it really clicked that I needed to try filters. So I applied that lesson here and it works. Also got a sky that looks a bit more dramatic than it really was, but not complaining about that.

San Antonio de Pala Mission, San Diego County.
In s sense you could say this is the only successful California mission, in that it is the parish church for a community of the original inhabitants, the Pala Indians.

Mt Palomar observatory. I used a DIY yellow filter to get good differentiation between the white domes and the sky, and it seems to have worked.
The interior picture was I think a 1min exposure. Box cameras are convenient for long exposures since the shape makes them easy to prop on things.

On the (long, steep, twisty) road up Mt Palomar.
On a previous trip I stopped at those springs and filled a water bottle, and it was damn fine water, but this year the spring was dry. However, at the observatory, a docent told us their water was from a well, presumably from the same aquifer, and what came out of a water fountain there also tasted good. Just not as cool as getting it straight from a well!
At least the picture came out sharp.
The mileage sign really is leaning like that, I was standing pretty vertically.
I was using a close-up/portrait attachment for that one, not actually the correct one for this model camera. The focus is a little soft; don't know if it's because of the mismatched lens or because I wasn't at quite the right distance.

This is the Sprinter train, which runs between Escondido and Oceanside, in northern San Diego County. It's a diesel-powered light rail train that runs on a former Santa Fe branch line. A fun ride.
Sorry about all the railings and stuff in the foreground. Guess I could get a better shot of the train if I was taking a picture of one I wasn't about to get on.

Some #KodakBrownie pictures from The San Diego Zoo Safari Park.
The balloon is yellow, and I used a yellow filter to darken the sky and increase contrast. A lot of the balloon is in shadow, so actually came out about the same shade as the sky, anyway, but the border is still pretty crisp.
This picture has weird bands that I sometimes get. This is the first shot of the roll. Maybe there was just a little light leakage as I was loading it. Or could the film have been stretched in winding?
